DPGC holds ethno-cultural heritage walk

AALO, Oct 15: Kamki-based Donyi-Polo Government College (DPGC) history department conducted an ethno-cultural heritage walk, themed ‘Tribal Trail: Exploring Ethno-Cultural Heritage and Tourism’, here on Tuesday to foster a deeper understanding of local ethno-cultural heritage, promote the vibrant culinary heritage among  students and spread awareness on sustainable tourism through community engagement and interaction.

Total 77 B.A. I and III semesters students, guided by faculty members Geyir Angu, Duli Ete, Jumbi Kato Lobom and  Millo Hakhe, took part in the 90-minute walks  from Gumin Kiin, where students were enthralled by folklore associated with Mopin festival, district museum, where they were engaged in story-telling through artefacts and culminated at daily market where they interacted with local vendors and gained insights in to cultural significance of tribal food and cuisines.

The event underscored the potential of cultural tourism in promoting economic growth and preserving the region’s heritage .The tribal trail expedition is expected to inspire similar initiatives, showcasing Aalo’s unique cultural identity and contributing to the growth of sustainable tourism in the region.
